With Bonfire Night just around the corner, we thought we’d provide you with a brief guide about fireworks displays in and around Bristol this year.

The fireworks spectacular at Bristol’s County Cricket Ground. Gates open at 17:00Â and the evening includes two displays, one especially aimed at children. Free parking is available via the Ashley Down Road entrance.
Easter Compton’s annual firework fiesta takes place at 18:30 on the village playing field.
Bristol Zoo’s bangless bonfire nights take place on 16:00-17:30, with the child-friendly display starting at 17:00.
Booking is advised, to book tickets call 0117 974 7300. Adult £4.75 (£3.50 children).
Downend fireworks display takes place on the King George V Playing Fields. Gates open at 18:00 with the children’s display at 18:30 and the main show at 19:300.
A family fireworks display and barbeque are taking place at Charborough Road Primary School in Filton Park, Bristol, BS34 7RL.
Gate opens 18:00 with entertainment from 18:30-19:00 and the display at 19:30Â although no admittance allowed after 19:00.
Bonfire Night Safety
- Only buy fireworks marked BS 7114 from a legitimate retailer
- Don’t drink alcohol if setting off fireworks
- Keep fireworks in a closed metal box
- Follow the instructions on each firework
- Light them at arm’s length using a taper
- Stand well back
- Never go back to a lit firework
- Never put fireworks in your pocket
- Always supervise children around fireworks
- Never throw fireworks
- Keep pets indoors
- Don’t set off noisy fireworks late at night
- Afterwards, use tongs to collect up spent fireworks
- Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves
- Never give sparklers to a child under 5
