Now in its third year, The Bristol Wine & Food Fair will be Taking place from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th July 2010 on Bristol’s historic Harbourside.
One of the centre-piece attractions is sure to be the Wine & Food Tasting Lecture Theatre, where you can expect to see some of the industry’s leading wine experts. Susy Atkins, Charles Metcalfe, Fiona Beckett and Tim Atkin MW will be on-hand to share their expert knowledge about different wine regions, wine styles and how to match wine with food.
There will be over 18 specific tutored tasting lectures, with tickets charged at £8 per lecture, available in advance.
Food lovers can also attend the Chef’s Master Class Theatre. Free to all visitors, the theatre will be hosted by some of the top chefs in the South West, including Freddie Bird (The Lido), Louise McCrimmon (Harvey Nichols), Mark Evans (Cafe Maitreya) and Chris Wicks (Bell’s Diner). The theatre offers a chance to learn new skills from the experts and take home some handy tips.
New for this year is the “Bristol Young Chef 2010†competition, organised in partnership with Bordeaux Quay Cookery School. The competition is open to all Year 4, 5 and 6 students from Bristol’s primary schools, with the aim of finding the next Raymond Blanc.
The winners will get the opportunity to perform their recipes on-stage in the Chef’s Theatre on Sunday 4 July, assisted by our master chefs. The prizes will include cookery equipment vouchers for their school and a cookery course from Bordeaux Quay Cookery School for themselves.
As well as fine wines there will also be the Food & Drink Pavilion and the Food & Drink Producers Market. This year, visitors will be offered the extra delight of an International Dining Area showcasing different cuisine from around the world.
Ticket price includes an official branded tasting glass and full event programme.
To add a little extra buzz to this lively event, there will be an Entertainment Stage with a full musical programme featuring live entertainment, with jazz and acoustic bands performing on our outdoor stage.
Finally, if your children are interested in food and would like to develop their cookery skills, in association with the Bristol Wine & Food Fair, the Cookery School at Bordeaux Quay is running a series of hands-on subsidised cookery workshops for children aged 6 – 16.
