What is 3D TV?
3D TV is a generic term for technology that lets viewers experience TV programs, movies and games etc created with a stereoscopic effect. It adds the illusion of a third dimension, depth, to current TV and HDTV display technology, which is normally limited to only height and width (“2D”).

How can you get 3D from a 2D TV?
A 3D TV screen showing 3D content displays two separate images of the same shot simultaneously, one intended for the viewer’s right eye and one for the left eye. The two full-size images occupy the entire screen and appear intermixed with one another–objects in one image often repeated or skewed slightly to the left (or right) of corresponding objects in the other–when viewed without the aid of special 3D glasses. When viewers don the glasses, they can perceive these two images as a single 3D image.

Sports links: 3D rugby pubs in Bristol and 3D football pubs in Bristol

The system relies on a visual process called stereopsis. The eyes of an adult human lie about 2.5 inches apart, which lets each eye see objects from slightly different angles. The two images on a 3D TV screen present objects from two slightly different angles as well, and when those images combine in the viewer’s mind with the aid of the glasses, the illusion of depth is created.

Will I need 3D glasses?

New 3D TVs require Active Shutter glasses (active liquid crystal shutter glasses) which work by very quickly blocking the left and then the right eye in sequence (120 times per second systems like Panasonic’s Full-HD 3D). The glasses, in addition to the liquid-crystal lenses, contain electronics and rechargeable batteries (typically good for 75+ hours) that syncronise to the TV wirelessly via an infrared or Bluetooth signal.

Bierkeller is a nightclub in the centre of Bristol. Popular due to two of its themed nights – goth and German Oompah band. Attracting quite an animated crowd, this is generally the place where you can enjoy a Bristol goth night one eveing and a Bristol German oompah band another.

The Oompah nights feature a German Oompah band. Customers are encouraged to dress-up. Typically this night is reserved for Bristol stag and hen parties. If you were to attempt to jsut turn up on the evening, you are likely to have to pay a heft entrance fee in the region of £14 of your finest, had-earned British Pound Sterling.
That aside, we would still highly recommend the Bristol Bierkeller if you are planning a stag night in bristol, a hen night in Bristol, a christmas party in Bristol or some sort of group event, we can’t think of a better place to have a laugh, act silly, and maybe get drunk! Drink responsibly!

Bar Humbug bar and restaurant, also know as “humbugs” has been the place to go on Whiteladies Road for the past 15 years or so. With a low-key and welcoming vibe, Bar Humbug is a great place to relax and enjoy yourself.

With a selection of well sourced Wines, an array of sprits, beers and a good choice of cocktails – almost every drinker is catered for! Food is also on offer, which in our experience is of a good general standard – without setting your tastebuds alight.

A lot of effort has gone into making Bar Humbugs look cool, with sophisticated low lighting and stylish designer furnishing.

Generally seen as a place to start the evening, before moving on to more lively surrounds or to just chill.

On the first floor is a Ski-Lodge theme bar and a French boudoir style bar. On the second floor you will find a large dance floor, playing mainly contemporary music such as RnB, HipHop and Dance. Mainly 80s music is played on this floor, but the overall theme is that of a party/good-time feel. There is also a quite welcome quiet area on ths floor, which provides an ideal spot to hold a conversation and look out over the superb architecture of Millenium square.

Open Monday 8pm until 3am, Tuesday 8pm until Midnight, Thursday 9pm until 2.30am, Friday 9pm until 3.30am and Saturday 9pm until 3am.
