Grain Barge
By admin on Jun 24, 2010 with Comments 0
Part of the Bristol Beer Factory/Tobacco Factory empire, the Grain Barge has transformed the old Shoots floating restaurant into a truly ‘local’ pub. The Grain Barge has been done-up using reclaimed and recycled materials. The bar stocks Thatchers cider plus the full range of Bristol Beer Factory draft real ales – Red, No.7, Sunrise and Exhibition – along with its bottled beers and stout, all brewed just over the water. The Beer Factory uses locally grown malt and hops, and occupies part of the old Ashton Gate Brewery – wafting the smell of malt across Southville on brewing days.
The Grain Barge aims to keep their wine and food miles to a minimum. Food includes Pieminister pies and locally sourced bangers and mash. (The Pieminister Steak and Ale pie uses Bristol Beer Factory beer.) Sausages from Wherlocks – Southville Sizzler and Brunel sausages (using the Beer Factory Red ale).
